The "board" needs to understand the post 9/11 landscape: a lot of "authorities" have been exposed as treacherous liars, control freaks, and downright homosexual rapists (Catholic church crisis). This coincides closely with the Cheney/Bush/Rumsfeld illegal war on Iraq. This was a major breach of trust within America and within the world. Nixon broke and entered the DNC office and was impeached. The Bush administration illegally waged a war against Iraq (no 2nd UN resolution). This is an example of a heinous abuse of power and authority. Religion always banks on the transfer of authority from God, where judgments on humanity are dissemenated to the public. Since there has been so much lying and deceit, many are fed up with this. Those of a fearful mindset are more inclined towards extremest fundamentalism of the evangilists where they find an outlet for hate against what they perceive as "other." Hate enjoys a resurgence in evangelical groups, especially those cloaked in "family values" which equates usually to "hatred and abolition of any other family structure other than oneman/onewoman." I think the healthiest move in the world is away from unsubstantiated authorities and institutions which prey on the public. This is an age where each of us as an individual should really analyze why we believe as we do and really question these beliefs.
