Erin Knight has started her term as president of the Junior League of
Miami for the 2009-10 year. Knight is the 83rd president of the JLM.
The mission of the JLM is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women and improve communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
As an active member of the JLM since 2000, Knight has held numerous committee, leadership and board director positions in the organization. She has worked with a variety of community organizations including Inn Transition North and Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

The Florida Commission on the Status of Women hosted a roundtable discussion on gender bias in the media on September 26, 2009 at the Frost Art Museum on the campus of Florida International University in Miami, FL. Community leaders, elected officials, educators, and members of the media were invited to participate in an in-depth conversation about this topic. The discussion touched on the existence and pervasiveness of the problem of gender bias, particularly in political coverage and proposed practical solutions for tackling, minimizing and eliminate the problem.
The conversation was moderated by Helen Aguirre Ferré and included the following panelists:
