Economic Impact of Carnival
This year Miami-Dade and Broward have partnered together to produce one Carnival parade in Bicentennial Park instead of holding competing events in each county.  But how does Carnival affect the local economy? Should we consider scaling down celebrations or eliminating Carnival altogether given our economic crisis?

Medical Tourism to the Islands
As the U.S. debates how to reform healthcare, Caribbean countries are posturing themselves for a new industry, medical tourism.  How viable of an industry is this for the island nations and how could it differ from other tourist healthcare hotspots like India and Southeast Asia?

Invasive Lionfish Threatening the Caribbean?
Many environmental concerns affect the Caribbean, such as deforestation in Haiti or overdevelopment in Jamaica.  In the sea, an invasive species called lionfish began as eight or nine loose pets and are now taking over the islands.  They threaten not only native fish, but the fishing and eco-tourism industries in South Florida and the Caribbean as well.  We discuss the lionfish and the creative ways being employed to reduce their population.
