Foreclosures, unemployment and our overall weakened economy garnered many headlines in 2009.  On the political side, the first African-American president, Barack Obama, began his term, healthcare reform made for an angry summer and stimulus funding gave rise to the "tea parties."  We gathered a panel to discuss these stories and others to see what the top news items of 2009 were.

The U.S. Supreme Court is currently hearing a pivotal case for Florida’s beaches.  Can a beach maintained by public dollars be made private by the homeowner whose property rests on the land?

Half of Florida’s high schools are considered "drop-out factories," or schools with very low graduation rates.  This is ten percent higher than the national average.  How do we reform high schools in Florida to achieve equality with other states?
