With our guests we talk about the decision of Judge Carves Jean to trial the former Haitian President Jean-Claude Duvalier for corruption charges related to his embezzling of millions of dollars, but not for human rights violations, including torture, rape, arbitrary imprisonment, crimes against humanity which have occurred during his presidency.

When the Drum is Beating
When the Drum is Beating is a film by award-winning filmmaker Whitney Dow revealing a portrait of the history of Haiti and featuring the renown Haitian orchestra, Orchestre Septentrional, which will be aired on most public television stations on the PBS series Independent Lens on Thursday, April 12th, 2012. It will air on WPBT2 at 11PM. We have invited Ulrich Pierre-Louis, the President of the orchestra’s council to talk about the film.
