Celebrity gala for a good cause

The red Carpet was short but it was for a big cause. It was a unique chance for uVu to attended a red carpet event which was not about the latest cds, promotional videos or personal life of celebrities. It was about the children at the Art for Life Miami Beach hosted at the Bath Club. The under privileged youths that need art in their life as a form of expression, an escape from everyday struggle or simply a way to interact with other children and adults.
The event was organized by the founders of Rush Philanthropic, Russell and Danny Simmons. Special honorees, including John Legend and Wycleff Jean, received drawings from the children who have been participating in the art program in New York. The press pit got tired of waiting for the artist’s arrival as most of them were between 2 to 4 hours late. The event was schedule to start at 8 pm, but was delayed to 9.30 pm. Despite the television hostess’ complaints of sore feet and back pain, the night ended up well with John Legend and Wycleff arriving last. Over $ 575,000 was raised. Each guest pledge $1000 to attend the gala.
A portion of the benefits will also be given to organization in South Florida. Danny Simmons specified that he wanted to open more Rush Philanthropic branches around the nation. To watch the interview with the different artists go to uVu.
