The program, features 12 diverse performances that take viewers on a journey of South Africa's unique heritage and landscape. The remarkable young cast of 30 stomps, jives, taps and sings to the beat of African rhythms in an enthralling musical and cultural celebration.
Solo singers, a drum quartet, and flute and saxophone players capture the spirit of Africa through extraordinary compositions written by Dave Pollecutt. The program also features stunning dance numbers – from pulsating, drum-driven tribal sequences to edgy, modern-day tap routines – choreographed by David Matamela and Debbie Rakusin.
AFRICAN FOOTPRINT has grown from its origins in an African performing arts school to become an internationally acclaimed stage show. Many cast members rehearsed for more than a year before realizing their dreams of performing on stage. It wasn’t until they were invited to perform before Nelson Mandela as part of millennial celebrations that their talents were recognized. Since then, the production has been televised around the world and seen by more than 250 million viewers.
AFRICAN FOOTPRINT is an original musical that stands out from all the others in the U.S. market. Hypnotic drums, vibrant choreography and culturally rich lyrics leave audiences with a taste of South Africa’s heritage.
